The Elephant Rope (Belief)
A respectable man was strolling through an elephant camp, and he recognized that the elephants weren't being kept in confines(cages) or held by the utilization of chains.
The only thing that was restricting them from getting away from the camp, was a little piece of rope attached to one of their legs. As the man looked at the elephants, he was totally puzzled as, why the elephants didn't simply utilize their power to break the rope and escape out from the camp. They could very easily have done so, however, instead, they didn't attempt to at all. Inquisitive and willing to know the reason, he asked an elephant trainer nearby for what good reason the elephants were simply standing there and never attempted to getaway. The trainer answered; "At the time when they are quite young(baby elephants) and a lot smaller in size we use a similar size rope to tie them and, at that age, it is sufficient to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe that they can't break the rope. They believe the rope still cannot be broken, so they never attempt to break the rope." The only explanation that the elephants weren't trying to break the rope and getting away from the camp was that with time they adopted the belief that it simply was impossible to break that little rope. The lesson of the story: Regardless of how much the world attempts to keep you down, consistently proceed with the belief that what you need to accomplish is possible. Believing you can become successful is the most crucial step in really accomplishing it.A Pound of Butter (Honesty)
There was a farmer who was selling a pound of butter to a baker every day. One day the baker decided to check the weight of the butter to see if he was getting the right amount of butter, on checking he found that the weight of butter was less than one pound. he was angry about this and he took the farmer to court.
The judge asked the farmer does he use any measure to weight the butter. The farmer replied, “Your Honor, I am a primitive sort of man. I don’t have a perfect measure,yet I do have a scale.”
The judge asked, “Then how do you measure the weight of the butter?”
The farmer replied;
“Your Honor, earlier before the baker started to buy butter from me, I have been purchasing a pound portion of bread from him. Every day when the baker brings the bread to me, I place it on the scale and give him the same weight in form of butter. The one who is to be blamed is the baker not me.”
Moral of the story:
In life, you get what you give. Don’t try cheating others.
